The worst sort of hopelessness is the feeling that you can't comfort the people you care about, no matter how earnestly and fervently you try.

part of comforting people is allowing them to feel whatever it is they are feeling, and be able to empathize with them even if you don't fully understand.

Thanks, I forget that some times. I just hate seeing people be unhappy.
